Simple Ways to fix the Mistakes in Aadhar letter
There are two ways both online and offline by which you can rectify the Mistakes in Aadhar Letter. The details of how to go about both are given below.
Rectifying the Mistakes in Aadhar Letter – Online:
Before beginning the steps of correcting the Mistake in Aadhar letter Online, it is wise to have all the information which you will need handy and in place.
VERY IMPORTANT: For correcting the mistakes online you will need a phone number which has been registered with your Aadhar Letter, this will help you in the process of correcting the mistakes. You will also require sufficient documents to support your request for data update.
Step 1: Visit the Self Service Update Portal by UIDAI
The online process of correcting mistakes in Aadhar Letter is done via a Self-update Portal set up by the UIDAI – Unique Identification Authority of India is the agency which is responsible for the issuance of Aadhar letter in India. You can access the portal via the direct link here
Once, you visit the website a page like the one shown in the image below, will open up. At the bottom of this page you will be asked ‘To submit your update/ correction request online please CLICK HERE’ you have to click on the link which will redirect you to another page.
The option you see below that is the way to do the process OFFLINE, which we have described below.
Step 2: Login in with Aadhar
The page opened will require you to enter your Aadhar number. Make sure to keep your registered mobile phone number handy.
Once you enter the Aadhar number click on the button beside it, which says ‘Send OTP’. The website will generate a one-time password which would be sent via text message to the registered phone number. You have to enter the received one-time password in the space provided for it and click on the login button. After doing which you would have successfully completed login.
Step 3: Data Update Request
You will be redirected to a page where you can request for data update. This page will ask you as to which of the details of your Aadhar Card would you require a change in, for example, Name, address, mobile number etc. After you have correctly entered the details yu wish to be updated, you have to click on the ‘Submit Update Request’. This page will redirect you to another page where all the fields will be displayed all together, you have gone through them and if you are satisfied, then you can go forward and click ‘MODIFY’
Step 4: Upload Documents
In this part of the process, you will have to upload documents to the website that will support the update in the Aadhar Letter that you have requested. For example, for a change of address, you will have to upload scanned copies of accepted documents showing your name and address like any government utility bill, MTNL or BSNL telephone bills, electricity bills, passports etc.

Step 5: Select a BPO service provider and Submit
In the last step, you will have to select a BPO service provider and click submit. Basically you will be shown different BPO service providers, with their average response time. You can pick which of them you want your update/correction request to be processed by. We recommend going by the one who has the faster response time, as it will speed up the update process.
These steps will complete the process of fixing mistakes online in your Aadhar letter.
Correcting Mistakes in Aadhar Letter Offline:
By and large the process described above remains the same in terms of filling the form and selecting the details to be updated and attaching the relevant documents. Of course in this case there is no need for the registered mobile number, as there is no OTP being sent. However, you can use this offline method to also get your mobile number registered if you do not have done so far.
The only difference is that in the offline method, you need to fill up a physical form and then submit it at an enrolment centre or send it via post.
