Aadhar is among the most easy to get ID proof India has ever witnessed. However, UIDAI has received a few complaints wherein people have not received their Aadhar Cards. If you are one among that ‘Aadhar Card Not Received’ group of people, have a look at the following.
There can be a lot of reasons as to why you might not have received your Aadhar Card. The first thing that should be kept in mind is that after applying for your Aadhar Card, at times it may take up to 3 months to process your Aadhar Application. This could be due to various technical and practical reasons. Applications are processed fast, but sometime delays do take place. So you need to be a bit patient.
Aadhar Card Not Received– Possible Reasons:
If you had applied for your Aadhar Card before April 01, 2012 and Aadhar Card not received yet, you may have to reapply.
For some of the applicants who had applied before April 1, 2012 – there could be some issues as reported; such as:
- Their applications are either lost
- Or their captured data has been damaged due to ‘Encryption Error’.
In such cases, one might have to reapply. If you had applied post-April 01, 2012 and Aadhar Card not received, you will have to check your Aadhar Card status first.

Note: To check your Aadhar Card Status online, you must have your Enrollment Number along with you. In case you have lost your Enrollment Slip (Enrollment Number), you may look it up online on the UIDAI web portal.

Different Aadhar Card Status and What They Mean:
Typically a status check query will give you the status as either In Process or Dispatched alongwith the tracking ID to track the delivery. In these both cases, you would need to wait, before your Aadhar is delivered to you – Or Download the eCopy as explained later in this post.
But there are cases wherein you might a status as given below.
If your Aadhar Card status shows any of the following:
- Not Found
- Can’t be processed due to technical reasons
If you see any of the above 3 – You will have to reapply for your Aadhar Card.

Once you have been allotted an enrollment center and a time, be present there on the allotted date to fill in your Application form. Be careful about the details you fill in the Aadhar Application, they should be authentic and correct or your application might stand a chance to get rejected again.

If your Aadhar Card Status is not one of the three mentioned above, then it is possible that your Aadhar application process has been delayed. It might also be that the Aadhar Card delivery by post has been delayed. In such a case you may consider downloading an E-Aadhar. E-Aadhar is Electronic Aadhar, which can be downloaded on your device from the UIDAI web portal. E-Aadhar is acceptable at all places where Aadhar is acceptable. - Visit the Web portal – click here.
- Read the Pre-Download Instructions
- Select Option you would want to enter – Either Enrolment ID (EID) or the Aadhar Number (UID).
- Fill in the Form-based the fields namely – EID or UID, Full name, Your Pin Code, Captcha from the image, Registered Mobile Number and Click Get OTP.
- You will get the OTP on your registered mobile number. Simply Enter this number in the OTP column and click Validate & Download.
- In a case of any error or problem, read the After Download Instructions shown to the left of your page.
Once you have downloaded your E-Aadhar, consider printing it out on a photograph paper. And you can easily have a hard copy of the document.
