We are sure you must have noticed it by now. An increasing number of people are applying for Aadhar Card owing to the benefits it offers – starting from getting LPG subsidy directly in to the bank account to Aadhar Card being accepted as a valid proof of identity and address. But what we are going to share with you in this article will really amaze you – an Aadhar official in Madhya Pradesh enrolled an Aadhar Card for Dog (his pet dog Tommy Singh). We at Aadhar Card Kendra do believe that pets should be treated as an integral part of a family but getting an Aadhar Card made for it is way too much.. crossing the limits if we’d say. And in this case, it was an Aadhar official himself.
What has surprised many across the country is that how was this dog able to get the Aadhar Card? As you are aware of, you cannot apply for Aadhar Card online; you need to visit an Aadhar Enrolment Centre and submit your Aadhar Card application to a designated official. After this, the application is verified and scrutinised by several Aadhar officials. So, how did all these Aadhar Card officials miss the fact that the application was for a Dog when they would have seen the Dog’s photo in the Aadhar Card application form. In fact, last year, another case came to surface where an Aadhar Card was made in the name of Lord Hanuman with name ‘Pawan Ji (Hanuman)’. And now we have one more of such incidents. What this brings to the light is clear lapse of process of scrutinising, verifying and issuing Aadhar Cards.
Aadhar Official Makes Aadhar Card For Dog:
In Umri, a small town in Bhind District of Madhya Pradesh, Azam Khan was working as an Aadhar Enrolment Supervisor. A couple of weeks back, Akhilesh Singh Yadav, a local resident complained to the Umri Police that the locals were facing a lot of problems in getting their Aadhar Cards made while alleging that Aadhar Cards are being registered and issued in the names of dogs and other animals by the local Aadhar Enrolment centre. The police then started their investigation and found that Azam Khan, Enrolment Supervisor at the local Aadhaar Enrolment Centre, recently registered an Aadhar Card for his pet dog Tommy Singh.
The Superintendent of Police arrested Azam on 2nd July, 2015. Azam Khan got his dog’s Aadhar Card made in April with the name ‘Tommy Singh’, Father’s name ‘Sheru Singh’ and Date of Birth (DoB) as 26th November, 2009. A case of forgery has been registered against Azam Khan and the police is further investigating to know whether he has registered and issued more such Aadhar Cards.
During the interrogation, Azam Khan said to officials that, he was mentally disturbed since the last 2 months owing to which he registered this Aadhar Card for Dog. We’d say, what a lame excuse!
While some may find it a story to laugh about and then forget, we think this is a really serious matter – If an Aadhar Card official can register and issue an Aadhar Card for Dog, how difficult it would be for people with wrong / maligned and evil interests to get their Aadhar Cards made?
